  • To give you meaningful choices about how we use your data.
  • To use your data appropriately and in ways you would reasonably expect.
  • To only share your data with other organisations where you have given consent, or where this is necessary to fulfil our contract with you, or where we are permitted or required by law.
  • To take active steps to protect your data from harm, including enhanced security measures for sensitive data (e.g. relating to children or disability).
  • To ensure our staff and partners (suppliers and artists) understand these principles and act responsibly.

What Information We Collect

Buying Tickets

You provide us with information when you buy a ticket, purchase items on our websites, sign up for events, make a donation or Gift Aid declaration, or communicate with us.

Websites we operate include:

We maintain a record of your transaction history (purchases, value, dates, contact details). We never store full payment card numbers, but may retain the last four digits to help identify transactions.

We will retain your personal data for five years from your last ticket purchase, unless a longer period is required for regulatory, tax or legal purposes. After this time, data is anonymised or securely deleted in accordance with our retention policy.

Email, Web Activity and Cookies

We keep a record of the emails we send you and may track opens or clicks to ensure we send relevant information. Like most websites, we use cookies to improve functionality, enable transactions and analyse usage.

Under PECR (as amended), some cookies that are strictly necessary or used for limited analytics may not require consent, but you will always have control over optional cookies. Please see our Cookie Policy for more details.

Social Media

We use social media to share updates. Depending on your account settings, you may see tailored advertising from us. Platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn and X (Twitter) may share data with us under their own privacy terms.

From Third Parties

If you book for partner venues (for example, Stockport Plaza Theatre), you may be asked to consent to data sharing with them. Where you agree, we will pass your details so they can contact you under their own Privacy Policy.

Sensitive Data

Where necessary, we may collect information relating to disability or medical needs to ensure appropriate access or support. This information is only processed with your explicit consent, held securely, and erased when no longer necessary.

We use your data to:

  • Provide tickets and services you have booked.
  • Contact you about important changes to your booking.
  • Process donations and Gift Aid.
  • Keep a record of your relationship with us.
  • Understand your preferences and improve our services.
  • Contact you about events, offers, and opportunities that may interest you (where you have opted in).
  • Conduct research and analysis to improve services and plan for the future.

You can manage your marketing preferences at any time, including unsubscribing via the link in our emails or contacting us directly.

Sharing Your Data with Third Parties

We will not share your personal details with third parties without your consent, unless:

  • It is required to fulfil a booking (e.g. providing your name and booking details to a venue or festival).
  • It is required or permitted by law (e.g. to regulatory bodies, police or legal advisors).
  • We use trusted service providers (e.g. ticketing systems, email distributors) under contract to support our operations.

We may share anonymised and aggregated ticket sales data with organisations such as The Audience Agency and UK Theatre to support research into arts attendance and reporting to funders.

International Data Transfers

When personal data is transferred outside the UK (for example to providers in the United States such as Facebook, Shopify, X, Sprout Social or DotDigital), we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in compliance with UK GDPR. This may include the use of the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA), Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), or other legally approved mechanisms.

We no longer rely on the EU–US Privacy Shield, which is invalid.

How We Keep Your Data Safe

Your data is stored on secure systems operated by The Lowry. Access is strictly limited to staff who need it. Sensitive data is subject to additional safeguards.
