All aboard for a Day Out With Thomas!

Join the Stephenson Railway museum as they welcome Thomas for a day of family fun. A ticket for Day Out With Thomas includes the ride on a steam train, as well as a variety of Thomas & Friends™ themed entertainment. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet The Fat Controller from the Island of Sodor.

Car Parking

The museum has its own car park next to the museum entrance. Access to the car park is from Middle Engine Lane.  Parking is free.  There are two parking bays marked out as accessible parking bays for blue badge holders, plus four parking bays for parents with toddlers.  These are all located close to the access path to the Museum.

Parking should be booked when purchasing tickets.

The nearest drop-off point by taxi, dial-a-ride, car or coach is beside the accessible parking bays next to the Museum entrance.

Shops and Cafés

In the main entrance there is a seating area, on special event days the café will be open.  Please contact the Museum for details.

There is a small gift shop selling a range of gifts, books and children’s items.  It is located just inside the entrance to the main museum display area.

By Car

Stephenson Railway Museum has a free car park with 80 spaces, car parking spaces should be booked at the time of purchasing your tickets.  Additional on street car parking is available a short walk from the museum.

The museum is well signposted from the A19/A1058 junction and is behind the Silverlink Retail Park, adjacent to the Blyth & Tyne cycle route.

Due to junction improvements being undertaken by Highways England at the A19/A1058 Coast Road Junctions you are advised to allow extra time for your journey as delays are expected.
